The future is now S..N..K..

It’s been a while since wrote a post so I figured it was time to write a new one. It’s been a whirlwind of a week. First off I got the news that Playmaji, the Makers of the Polymega (A retro Emulation box) are launching a new base unit console which I feel is a shift in their overall direction and a direct abandonment of what we paid a hefty sum for in time and money. They Also are launching their App and surprise, surprise my base unit won’t have support out of the gate. Playmaji is the personification of a great idea that’s a major disappointment.

In better news this week, Plaion Replai announced and opened pre-orders for the a brand new licensed reproduction Neo Geo AES, called the Neo Geo AES+. This is everything I’ve personally wished some one would have done years ago, a fully licensed reproduction of SNK’s very popular but, just out of reach in the 90s at $600, Neo Geo Advanced Entertainment System. However, instead of doing the Analogue thing or the mini console thing, this is made with 1-1 hardware from the original Neo Geo console with some extra modern day features. I was so stoked I pulled my wallet out and secured mine right away.

I have an original Neo Geo AES but this type of project is one I can’t help but support. I’m hoping with all I can that this sparks a revolution of recreation of old hardware. A world where I could go buy a brand new Genesis or Master System, a brand new Playstation or brand new Sega Saturn and pop in my games and paly is a world I wanna live in. It also to me feels like it sends message to the games companies, that old hardware is beloved and needs to be protected. If they’re not going to support it. Let companies formed by passionate fans tow that line and license it from you to keep the legacy living on.

anyway that’s I’ll I’ve got for now. go pre-order an AES+ if you haven’t and joint the revolution!
